Charming market town situated on the River Tavy. Highlights include riverside walks, Drakes’ Walk, Viaduct Walk and beautiful meadows.
Tavistock is a former stannary town with Saxon beginnings and an industrial past based on tin, cloth and copper. The birthplace of Sir Francis Drake, his statue within the town is the original of the replica to be found on Plymouth Hoe.
You can find plenty of very interesting architecture and nationally known stores plus a range of independent ones typical of a Devon market town and a wealth of restaurants, cafes, traditional pubs and hotels, plus take-aways. There is a covered pannier market, which was first held in 1105. A beautiful 15th-century parish church can be found near the 12th-century ruins of the Benedictine abbey.

There is much to see in and around Cornwall and Devon.

Plymouth city center offers a vast variety of shops as well as it's famous Barbican and Hoe.
